I thought today as I was working on my canning, this is hot and messy work but how I love it. My favorite thing to can is tomatoes, I usually try to do at least 100 quarts. Most of the canning I do is more time consuming and messy than hard. So far this year I've done dill pickles, beet pickles, peach preserves (thanks to my good neighbor Debbie who went to the Myrtle beach and brought us a basket of peaches back)and green beans. Waiting on the tomatoes to start getting ripe. If the cabbage does well I'll freeze(and dry) it and either dry or freeze green peppers,
AND... from what we have dug so far our potatoes are great and we'll have big crop to store. And we had corn on the cob for supper, good grief it was good.
Oh, and since I had the kitchen heated up anyway I baked a cake,
pineapple upside down cake |
I'm so thankful for all the bounty our gardens produce, for having the place to plant the garden and the knowledge to perserve it.
GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!
